Ben S. Knowles (adricnet) will do an Ask Me Anything (AMA)
Ben S. Knowles (Twitter, GitHub @dfirnotes) is a professional computer security consultant and educator in the Atlanta, Georgia, USA area. Ben presents at local groups and conferences on analysis, forensics, and security education. Ben has led community classes on defense, response, and analysis with the SANS Institute and has bugs and patches in a few public tools. Recently he has been an information security engineer on the incident response team at the Atlanta office of a global firm.
Ben has worked in information security full time (ten years now!), plus a little teaching on the side. Ben taught himself a bunch and continues to learn from working with smart people. Ben is really into infosec and hacker education, enjoys teaching and sharing resources for learning, and has lots of books and online courses he hasn’t finished. Besides hacking & computer stuff, Ben nerds out on video games, science fiction, comics, and languages. Ben has a cat that has been on the Internet almost her whole life, but he won’t let her use Facebook.
We will have time after the presentation for people to to share what they are working on. Your project doesn’t have to be complete and slides are not required (like show-n-tell).
We will be running the NetKotH CTF.
If you would like to play along in the CTF follow these instructions (http://koth.userserviceable.com/netkoth.html) and hack away with your favorite tools such as Kali Linux, Parrot Linux, or ArchStrike Linux.
