Charmander (Charles Jackson) will present:
Charmander just finished up a boot camp at Georgia Tech and his final project assignment was to find a tool that was not cover in class that related to cybersecurity. With the advice and help of Xray, Charmander put together a Network King of the Hill Capture the Flag.
This ‘tool’ is basically a gamified version of a pentesting lab. Charmander will go through the basic setup process of the network, how the scoring works, and how the network administrator can easily set up multiple versions of the same machine. From the players’ standpoint, Charmander will demonstrate how to hack into a machine and, once inside, how to maintain a foothold on the hacked machine by patching and using automated scripts.
We will be running the NetKotH CTF.
If you would like to play along in the CTF follow these instructions (http://koth.userserviceable.com/netkoth.html) and hack away with your favorite tools such as Kali Linux, Parrot Linux, or ArchStrike Linux.
